10th ESSE International Conference: Call for Papers
Technical problems at the printers have meant delays in sending out the latest issue of The European English Messenger, and there is a danger that many copies will have got caught up in the Christmas mail. To ensure that all ESSE members are aware of the arrangements for the forthcoming conference in Turin
As has been the practice in the past, prospective presenters – who do not need to be members of ESSE – should find a seminar in which their paper might fit, and send a proposal to the convenors of that seminar.

Accomodation info
Perhaps you would like to know that the plenary speakers and Executive with the Webmaster and Editor will stay at Victoria Hotel. If you wish to stay at the same hotel you should start making reservations now, as this is the best-known moderately priced hotel downtown and the best rooms will go fast.

As soon as we finalize arrangements and prices for a semi-continental breakfast, we will publish the complete set of prices on the website, but as of now we can announce _the cost of the rooms_ which is the same for both halls, with an additional booking fee (i.e. a fee for each booking, NOT for each person!) of EUR 2:**
** *per person per night, max 5 nights,* *single **_Eur 34,00_ (inc. VAT)* *per person per night,* *max 5 nights, double _Eur 46,00_ (incl. VAT)* *Accommodation in the Residences will _ONLY be possible through the Conference Organization, and the procedure will be published on the Registration Form._*

The cost is Eur 75 breakfast included for the whole stay, not too many rooms available, almost all of them single rooms (only a handful of twin rooms and they will cost the double). This means that we must give priority to applicants who can prove that they actually are in a position where they need this special convenience (PhD students & post-docs without a salaried post, lecturers from universities where academic salaries are much much lower than in other EU countries, etc). Please address all inquiries and applications to the e-mail address provided on this page of our conference website: application will be handled exclusively by Conference Organization, since our hosts have no time to handle these tasks. *
** *The cost of the Conference dinner will be Eur 45.* *Registration costs and registration deadlines are notified on the preliminary REGISTRATION FORM page of the conference website. *

*a) Conference begins at 14:00 on Tuesday 24 August and ends at 13:30 on Saturday 28 August;*
*b) those who want to take pre- or post-conference tours should wait a little, as the programmes are not all out yet; if they want to stay at Lungodora, shey should also watch their dates because the Residences only allow a stay of 5 nights!*
